Dolls wigs

Wha tis the size that i need to rewig a felicity I just bought off of ebay that has no wig. And is there a brand ? I also wondered what american girl would charge to put on a new wig,. Hope some one sure has a answere. thanks Diane [img]frown.gif[/img]

I purchased my wigs for the 2 curly hair dolls in the photo under my signature from Tallina.com. AG dolls take a size 12 wig. Sorry but I don't know what AG charges to wig a doll.

I don't know about rewigging but a new head is $38. The hospital form doesn't mention rewigging so it really wouldn't suprise me if they don't actually offer it.

Maybe someone will know for sure.

They do not offer rewigging. Replacing the doll's head is a two minute procedure, tops... Replacing the doll's wig does not take too much longer, but there is a lot of wait time and the AG Hospital just does not have time for that.

You peel off the old wig, carefully peeling off any large lumps of glue still left on the scalp, check the new wig to see that it fits the way you want it to look. If it has bangs, fit it so that the bangs are long; they are made that way so they can be trimmed to fit. Then you take off the new wig, turn it inside out and apply glue to the scalp, smoothing it over the area to be covered by the wig. I recommend Tacky (brand) glue as it takes a bit longer to set up and lets you move the wig a tad to adjust the fit.

Starting near the front of the scalp, you apply the wig, carefully rolling it back across the crown and the sides and pressing it lightly down. You should now, and be quick about it, adjust it so that it is straight. Let it sit for at least 12 hours before you attempt to mess with it. Trim the bangs and brush out the hair with a wig brush.

Hell , Taffy where did you get your wigs from that you used ? AlsoHas anyone tried the my twin doll wigs or are they to big ?thanks Diane [img]confused.gif[/img]

I've bought Kemper, Global Dolls and Monique wigs from Audrey's Dolls, especially when they have them on sale. I tend to "stock up" when that happens.

I can't see how a MyTwinn-sized wig would ever fit on an AG-size doll. MyTwinns are much bigger...

Mohair is hair from an Angoran goat. Thus, it is "real" hair and will be subject to the same conditions as using human hair. You wash it with shampoo and use conditioner.

AGs and most other 18" dolls have modacrylic hair. It is a synthetic, actually polyester, and you wash it with soap and condition it with fabric softener since it is actually a fabric fiber.

Alas, wig sizes are not as consistent as AG dolls' foot lengths. Because they are sewn together, they vary, much as AG dolls vary in girth... In short, try the wig on the doll's bald head before you go anywhere near the glue bottle.
